This scan is performed to investigate symptoms such as pelvic pain, irregular periods, abnormal bleeding, abdominal discomfort, breast lumps or pain, or to screen for underlying conditions affecting the reproductive system, abdominal organs, or breast tissue.
Preparation may vary depending on the areas being examined; you may be asked to have a full bladder for the transabdominal pelvic scan, empty your bladder for the transvaginal scan, avoid using deodorant or lotions on the chest for breast imaging, continue your regular medications unless advised otherwise, and wear comfortable, two-piece clothing for easy access.
