A detailed transabdominal and/or transvaginal ultrasound assessment of the ovaries and ovarian morphology, performed to evaluate for features of PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and PMOS (Polycystic Morphology of the Ovary).
This scan is performed to assess symptoms suggestive of PCOS or hormonal imbalance, including irregular or absent periods, acne, excess hair growth, weight changes, pelvic discomfort, or difficulty conceiving. It provides a detailed evaluation of ovarian morphology (PCOM/PMOS) and supports diagnosis, monitoring or treatment planning. Suitable for women in the pre‑, peri‑ and postmenopausal stages, depending on clinical indication.
Please have a omfortably full bladder to improve visualisation during the initial transabdominal scan. Aim to drink around 1 pint (500 ml) of water one hour before your appointment. A transvaginal scan may also be performed for optimal assessment. You may eat and drink normally and continue your usual medications. Your scan will be carried out by a senior female sonographer in the comfort of your home.
